The acting career of Reese Witherspoon began to flourish after she attended Stanford University. Her early critical successes included roles in films such as Pleasantville and Election however it was her performance as Elle Woods in the box office smash Legally Blonde that marked a pivotal moment in her professional career. Witherspoon also won an Academy Award in the year 2005 for her role in Walk the Line. Water for Elephants, This Means War, and Wild are a few of her most recent films. Witherspoon was randomly basis in 1991 answered an advertisement in the local paper for additional roles. She was just 14 when she was cast as the main character on The Man in the Moon, her debut feature film. Witherspoon considered quitting acting in her first year of college to pursue a doctoral career with her parents. She won the Catalonian International Film Festival Best actress Award in 1996 due to her performance in Freeway. After putting off college for the entire time she enrolled in English Literature in Stanford University briefly before returning to work. In the 2003 movie The Invisible Man she had her first feature-length role. Then, she appeared in a variety of TV shows, including House of Lies Whitney, Better Call Saul and The Invisible Man. In addition to her acting work her appearances in films such as The Dictator or The Incredible Burt Wonderstone. A talented painter, she has also exhibited in several galleries.
