Decker was always considered known as a "country" performer, but her latest album was produced and promoted for a pop audience. Decker had to work hard to get control over the music she released after the two prior singles weren't well received. The album that Decker released by the title Daughter of a Gypsy and Sweet American Dreams by Mercury Records, was pulled following Mercury noticed the weak performance of three of Decker's singles on the country charts.
